The combined Coachella Valley Symphony and Buddy Rogers Youth Symphony is a community orchestra whose members range in age from seven to 87. Some of the musicians may play off-key, but the orchestra provides free violin lessons to more than 250 school and pre-school students in the Coachella Valley who would not otherwise be introduced to music. The adults, teens, and young musical novices all perform together at annual civic events such as Memorial and Veterans Day celebrations at Indian Wells City Hall. Gloria Greer takes us to rehearsals and a recent civic event where everyone, including the city Mayor, had a good time.
