
KCET Desert Cities would like to introduce EASYWAY GOURMET hosted by Kris Capra. This half hour cooking show is geared at making your entire cooking experience Easy from start to finish. EASYWAY GOURMET is an entire system that will show you how to create, shop for, prep, cook and present the most wonderful gourmet meals.
Learning to cook is Easy, fun, exciting and very fulfilling as long as you make it Easy on yourself. Learn to create a beautiful meal by learning food pairing. Pairing food is important. The tastes of the foods on your menu should compliment each other. EASYWAY GOURMET will show you how simple it is to do just that. As Kris always says, “The main course is always the star of the plate, the side dishes are just supporting roles.”
And you should never go shopping without a list. It’s not Easy to prepare a meal if you constantly have to run out to the store for the items you have forgotten. Learn to do a lot of prepping ahead of time so that when your guests arrive you can spend more time with them and less time in the kitchen. Presentation is everything. A pretty platter, doilies, a slice of lemon or a sprig of basil can make all the difference on the plate. Learning this process is quick and Easy. Your hot foods will always come out hot and the cold foods cold, and everything will look and taste delicious.
Since 1926 the Capra family has been in the Coachella Valley. Frank Capra was one of the earliest visitors to La Quinta Resort & Club where he wrote many of his Academy Award winning films. Kris and her husband Tom Capra have visited and lived in the desert for many years. They are television producers and Tom, an Emmy Award winning producer, will executive produce the show. In keeping with the Capra family tradition, Kris ends every show with, “From my kitchen to yours—have a great meal and a Wonderful Life!”
Overall, EASYWAY GOURMET is more than just a cooking show—Kris loves to cook, but because of her work, she has had to develop a system that allows her to create wonderful meals that don’t take all day to prepare and to take shortcuts without giving up the quality. The result is a simple way to create gourmet meals the EASYWAY.
